REGISTRATION FOR THE 2024 – 2025 CO-OP YEAR WILL OPEN ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 24th at 10AM.

We are excited to announce the official lineup for the 2024-2025 Academy of Arts Christian Co-op!

Our mission is to raise up the next generation of Christian communicators to effectively give out the good news of the gospel through singing, acting, dance, art and all forms of artistic communication. It is our desire not to compartmentalize your child but rather teach the whole person by keeping Christ at the center of all subjects and studies!

We believe that we are not just teaching the arts to your children, but are helping them to study the very nature of God. He is the most artistic and creative being that exists and will ever exist. As we study this part of God’s nature we believe that your child will not only grow in their excellence as a communicator, but as a follower of Jesus as well! It is our prayer that our students will not fall in love with their gift, but rather with the Giver of their gift and that they will grow in their skill and discernment on how to use those gifts for Christ!

ACTING CLASSES EXPLANATION

This year, we are adapting the schedule just slightly for both the Elementary and the Jr. High/ High School Drama classes. Each weekly session will still begin with a brief chapel time for the young people, but then our teachers will be instructing the students in the following areas: improv, projection, blocking, acting for the stage and film, effective interp, memorizing tips, and much more. These hands-on classes will be helping every student receive instruction and practice, no matter how many lines their character has in the play.

In the Spring semester, we will be doing a full week of rehearsals leading up to the final recital performances for each age group. The format will mirror week-long summer camps and seminars with block rehearsals each day leading up to the performance at the end of the week. We have heard your feedback and are constantly seeking to adjust the unique opportunities we give your young people, so that it can be the most effective.  We are excited to implement this into the Co-Op this coming year!

ELEMENTARY ACTING

The Elementary Drama Class will be working on the play The Bird and the Bug, written by Nicole Stratton. This adorable story tells the allegorical tale of the Good Samaritan. Complete with beautiful, original music, a witty, thought-provoking script, and delightful costuming and sets, this play provides an opportunity for each child to learn the important lessons of true friendship and loving your neighbor as yourself.

The Elementary Acting Class will meet April 14th – 18th |  9AM – 3PM to finish preparations for their production of The Bird and the Bug.

Jr. High/Sr. High Acting

The Jr. High/High School Co-Op Drama Class will be presenting the play By the Will of God written by Dr. Chavers. This Academy of Arts’ classic tells the story of the Apostle Paul, the great missionary of the New Testament, through a unique, staged class-discussion and dramatic portrayal of Paul’s first missionary journey! Watch his miraculous conversion, witness the glorious miracles, and feel his heart for the lost in By the Will of God!

The Jr./Sr. High Acting Class will meet April 21st – 23rd | 9AM – 3PM, April 24th | 9AM – 9PM, and April 25th | 9AM – the performance for their final preparations for By the Will of God.
